Hi Folks,
My band/electronic duo is releasing an album and doing a tour this month. We've contacted media in each city and have received a good response. But now that we've joined MMM3 we're looking to send a more official press release that would go out to more of the traditional music outlets. Feedback is welcome.
1. Looking to make sure the tone is professional and that it hits the points that we have an album and tour and does it convey the message that Ethan our bass player is doing something very unique and specialized with his bass playing...which is shred like guitar playing in his solos and really advanced playing in general coupled with our pop electronic sound and my female vocals and guitar.
2. Currently the album is only available to the public on our new wordpress site. And we have private link for media on our old dotcom site. Want to find the best way to get that across so as not to be confusing in the press release.
Thank you in advance!
Hi Stacy,
Really sorry for the slow response. Both my kids have been sick this week so I haven't been online as much as usual.
I think the press release reads well, BUT, the only thing I was thinking as I read it was that this just sounds like another band's press release. I don't know how truly newsworthy it is. If you are going off of the Press Release Module, keep in mind that that was recorded over two and a half years ago. Things are a little tougher these days. Everything is still valid, but I think it's a little harder to get as much bang for your buck, both with media and the search engines. Doesn't mean I wouldn't run a press release, I would, but I would make sure it was news worthy.
Right now it reads as informative, but there is nothing there that I would be inspired to share with friends because it was so interesting. That is sort of the criteria for newsworthy. You might take something like this and send it manually to a few news sources to see what kind of response you get before spending money on it's distribution. That's just my two cents.
