I put it up on our old squeeze page, John, so that you could take a look at the exit pop issue.

Alright, here are the stats of my e-mail series as a result from my facebook advertising.

E-mail #1- Free download of music from the video game Final Fantasy VI
Open rate- 100%, click through rate- 87.5%

E-mail #2- 2 more free downloads of video game music that I composed
Open rate- 25%, click through rate- 25.0%

E-mail #3- Video of me playing video game music from Super Mario Bros. 3
Open rate- 31.2%, click through rate- 20.0%

E-mail #4- Limited time discount offer of Final Fantasty VI album
Open rate- 25%, click through rate- 25.0%, purchased album- 0%, purchased upsell- 0%

E-mail #5- Final Notice of discount offer of Final Fantasty VI album
Open rate- 22.7%, click through rate- 33.3%, purchased album- 100%, purchased upsell- 0%

There was a problem with my PayPal delivery system which affected my upsell results. Only half of the people who bought the ablum saw the upsell page immediately. The album is purchased through PayPal, then after a successful transaction, PayPal is supposed to redirect the customer back to my website to download the album. Which is also the same page where my upsell offer is given. For some strange reason, that I can't figure out, this only happens half of the time. Sometimes, it takes as long as 10 seconds to redirect back to my website and customers are clicking away before that happens. One customer said he was using an iPad when it didnt work, so this might have something to do with it as well.

What I would like is to have an e-mail automatically sent to the customer after they buy the album with a link to the download/upsell page. Is there a way to do this with Aweber? Some sort of page tracking that e-mails them once they reach a certain page? Or do I have to get a 3rd party ecommerce system other than PayPal? I like using PayPal because I only pay fees when I sell something, instead of a monthly fee, but if it continues to not work I'll have to try something else. So, currently I have to e-mail everyone who buys my album one by one, to make sure that they get the link.

The number of subscribers wasn't huge, so I don't expect that these results are definitive, but at least it gives me an idea of what's working and what's not. It's interesting that a few people didn't click on the link to get their free download after they opened the first e-mail. Go figure.

Also, the amount of money received from album sales was not enough to cover advertising costs, but it was partly my fault. I spent more than I should have on facebok advertising, because I was split testing lots of different variations. Now that I know what kind of advertisding works for me, next time I should hopefully get a good ROI.

Thanks for all the advice!

Don't forget to watch the Total Lunar Eclipse tonight!

That's awesome man. Can you be more specific on the sales percentages. Do you mean to say that 58.3% of the people on your list bought your album? That would be insane. Just looking for clarification.

As for the redirect not working, that is odd. I would contact Paypal for sure. Shouldn't be like that.

As for the email going out with the link. yes, it can be easily done with the tools you have. Use the paypal aweber integration to automatically move people to a customer list once they order. Then set an autoresponder message in your customer list so that people who get added to your customer list automatically get an email that says something like "thanks, here's the download link to your purchase. Then put the download link at the top of an upsell sales page and say something along the lines of, thanks so much, here's your download. Just right click and save, etc. But before you go I've got something special I'd like to share with you... or whatever. Smooth that out obviously.

Great job. A few uspells and a little refining and you should be in the profit. Also remember, you can also add more product and potentially live shows into the funnel.

John,

I wish album purchases were that high! Let me clarify. Open rate numbers are percentages of my e-mail list that opened the email. Click through rate numbers are the percentage of those who clicked on the link after opening the e-mail. Then album purchase numbers are those who bought the album after clicking the link. For an example, let's say 132 people are on the list. The open rate was 22.7%, so that means 30 people opened the e-mail. The click through rate was 33.3%, so that means 10 people clicked on the link, and 100% purchased the album so that would also be 10 people. Which means 7.6% of those on my email list, that came from my facebook ad campaign, bought the album. Then 0% bought the upsell.

I'm glad to know Aweber will work, I'll get that set up. Back when I sold PDF sheet music on my website several years ago I had the same problem with PayPal. Mostly the problem was people weren't waiting to be redirected back to the website to get their download. It would take up to 10 seconds sometimes, and they would just click away thinking they were done. I got lots of "Where's my music?" e-mails. So, on my album purchase page I have in big bold red lettering right under the order button "PLEASE WAIT 10 SECONDS AFTER YOUR CHECKOUT AND YOU WILL BE DIRECTED BACK TO THIS WEBSITE TO RECEIVE YOUR IMMEDIATE MP3 DOWNLOAD OF ALL 12 TRACKS FROM THE ALBUM!". So, hopefully the Aweber integration will work better and they'll get en immediate e-mail as well just in case they never get to the page.

     Thanks a bunch!

Cool. That makes more sense. 7% is still VERY solid. Keep that traffic coming in and see where you're able to take this. Great job so far.
