I've been using a pretty cool technique to drive traffic from twitter, which kind of gets around the 2000 follow limit.
Sign up with http://friendorfollow.com/ ,
this site shows you the people you are following who do not follow you, you can delete these people off your twitter and then start following new people for follow backs... i generally delete whoever was active today and does not follow you, or who has not been active 3 months plus and does not follow you... keep your deletes and adds to about 150 per day so you dont get caught out...
then sign with http://www.justunfollow.com/
here you can write an automated direct message to all your new followers and kindly direct them to your squeeze page...
it has been working a treat for me so far!
on a side note.... to search for new followers that would be into your music, i check the followers lists for other artists similar to what i do musically...
peace

I've been using Justunfollow to target followers that like music similar to my own. I didn't know about the ability to send an automatic message to new followers. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for sharing Bjorn,
It's a strategy that I covered in MMM 2.0, but the tools I used were becoming outdated and Twitter was changing their terms and conditions to often so i removed it from MMM 3.0. Are you finding that the URLS in your DMs are going through? Twitter recently stopped allowing URLs in many direct messages, but there was talk that it could change. Just wondering how you;re making out.

Thanks for the tips.
Sending direct messages from my Twitter account still does not seem to work for me. 🙁
I'm still hearing from a lot of people that have succuss just sending out spelled out domains. IE, mysite (dot) com. It will likely drop your conversions a little, but should still be effective.

I actually use Tweepi to flush the unfollowers and follow followers of other account that might want to follow me.
And I use socialoomph to send auto direct messages. I like it better because it doesn't say "via justunfollow" in the message, so it looks like a genuine DM.
Also, I think "Nice to meet you." works a LOT better than "Thanks for following".
What wording to you guys use to get people to go to your music squeeze page?

Great suggestion. I haven't done it for a while and I was pretty generic back when I used to do it a lot. But it still worked pretty well. I just said something to the effect of "Thanks for following. Here's a free copy of my latest single: link.com". I can't remember the exact wording. But I no longer take that approach. I like the conversational, and more authentic, approach that your suggesting much better.
