I've recently started working on twitter and have actually been having some success with sign ups. I'm using social oomphs DM and automatic follow back, but I'm following people one at a time. I was wondering if anyone here uses Tweet Adder software (or any other software) http://www.tweetadder.com/ and if so, if you like it and if it makes twitter easier for you. I've heard good things about Tweet Adder, but I want to be careful to not get banned from twitter. I don't want to come off as if I'm a spammer.
Hi Annie,
I've been using something very similar, called Social Oomph to automate my tweets, and have had no problems so far. I just make sure that my tweets don't always go out at the exact same times..ie 5:00, 6:30, and 7:15 for example. I always change the times like 5:03, 5:57 and 7:28 one day, 4:49 , 6:12 and 7:09 the next...you get the idea.
Incidently, I have found that my most successful times to send out Tweets on weekdays are between 4:00pm and 8:00pm, Pacific time (in the USA) That way I can cover from the east coast to the west coast in the evening hours when many people are still awake, done with dinner, and kicking back before having to hit the sack for work the next day. Saturdays I will often Tweet between 10:00am and 8:00pm and Sunday anytime after noon up until 7:00-8:00pm. I admit I have slacked off on Twitter while I devote most of my time and energy to finishing up my new CD...Yeah, I know...my bad! But I am finally reaching the point where I can pick up where I left off. In the past, I tried Tweeting earlier in the day during the week, and got very poor results
Also, if you haven't tried it yet, I strongly suggest using John and Scott's new Viral Music Player to build Twitter and Facebook fans. I was in on the beta testing, and it kicked some serious butt! I am now using the latest version on my website, and getting very good response! As I recall, the cost is only $27.00 and it is well worth it! I had some technical glitches getting it all set up, and Scott was always right there fixing whatever I was having a problem with. I don't think he ever sleeps!

Hey Annie,
I haven't been doing much Twitter lately (for no real reason), but when I was last doing it I just added people by hand. It only took a few minutes each day. You could always try creating multiple accounts purely for traffic gen. I'm sure the software offers some benefits.

Oops, sorry Annie! I was "multi-tasking"...in other words trying to do to many things at once, and I didn't read your question right!
I have looked at Tweet adder, but never used it.
Glad I got another chance to recommend using the Viral Music Player though!

I'm using Tweet Adder and like it....it is getting me about 2 subscribers every 1-2 days, which is something. Now I have to figure out how to get the other 35 subscribers/day!!
I also have another account where I am trying to post about similar music and send out a DM about my music but as I am starting from 0 followers, it is definitely taking time to be able to add more followers.
Hope that helps.
Hi Kat,
I ended up getting tweet adder and like it a lot too. I am careful with it though. I don't automate too much and use it and twitter itself like a real human being (because I actually am one) I always send posts through twitter and go on the site to connect with people daily. I use tweet adder to dm, search, unfollow, follow and follow back.
I'm also having success with sign ups and building relationships. I'm really enjoying twitter. I used to not see the point.
I've been experimenting with Twitter more these days as well. I find following to be a pain so I may be looking into a solution - but would rather not pay for one right now.
I'm using Buffer to schedule/spread out my tweets and have been getting a decent number of followers each day. I don't have the account pointing to a squeeze page right now - but it seems like my subscribers are increasing as well.
I don't get too excited about new Twitter followers since it's well known that a high percentage are bots. However, having some sort of a following still provides social proof plus you get to experience other people's direct message attempts and how effective or futile they are.
Hi Annie:
Thanks for posting about your experience with Twitter and TweetAdder. I'm psyched to hear that you're having some success with it, and was wondering whether you'd mind expanding on it a little bit. If you have the time, could you maybe share a ballpark figure on your conversion rate? It'd be great to get a little data from someone in the Insider Circle who's doing it right!

Hi Mike,
I haven't kept exact records but it seems to be about 1 to 4 sign ups for every 100 people that we add altogether (we have 2 accounts - one for our duo and one for my partner who is also a guitar teacher). And only some of the people we add will follow back. It's most successful with some targets over others.
The nice thing is that it is so easy to do and can be worked on while you're doing other things.I also think it's also useful to build up a twitter following and to use it as intended - to build relationships.
I've started sending out tweets from our blog - http://www.hobbyhorseband.com - which drives some traffic. I've also found that certain people really take an interest in us and this gives them a way to keep in touch with what we're doing. These people would have never found us on facebook because of the way facebook is set up.The vast majority though are just following and not actual fans - so I don't treat twitter followers like they are devoted fans. People often complain that twitter takes so much time and it's draining - but I'm finding that it doesn't have to. I only spend about 10-20 minutes a day on it. So it's not lots of sign ups or traffic, but it is easy.
Hey Annie - thanks for the extra info! 4% conversion sounds pretty good to me, especially for something that, as you noted, is pretty easy and non-time consuming.
I like Twitter too - it's easily my favorite of the social networks, and I'm on it every day already. I haven't really found it to be great for sustained interaction either, but maybe that's just because I could stand to improve my Twitter skills.

Thanks for sharing Annie. I agree. It takes so little time. Not sure why some people object to it.

I have found that super targeted tweets, following accounts that share similar interests, and a targeted squeeze page works really well on twitter. Not tons of subs...But worth it for sure.
Plus...Twitter seems to have a cap on the # of people you can follow. From what i can tell it is roughly 10% over the number of followers you have. So, even if you don't get a ton of subs, you'll likely get more followers which will help you go after more people.

Just a tip, there is a cap, but as long as you unsubscribe the people that are not following you, the amount of people you can follow just keeps going up.

Hi Annie,
Yes, I use Tweet Adder. I like it a lot. The tortoise will beat the hare at the game of Twitter. Just follow their instructions, and turn it on. I have 4500 Twitter followers, and it's a decent traffic source for me. More than that, it has been a source of invaluable friendships: I got my free logo design from a Twitter friend; I found my artist development consultant/business partner on Twitter; I've gotten blog placements and airplay from Twitter. As much as I love Facebook, I've gotten more out of Twitter.
I agree, I like Twitter a lot more than Facebook. Facebook has become a bit of a chore while Twitter is really fun, at least to me.
