So I'm thinking of changing my website by having a more static first page a la Seth Godin's perhaps, but with the sign up box like John Oszajca's. I've had a kind of News feed/blog on my website but I've never felt comfortable putting an article up there about something other than what i'm doing.

So should I have a blog that is on a blogging platform(like typepad for Seth Godin) where I write articles and do the post penguin stuff and keep a news feed blog which is about my releases and gigs on my http://www.endareilly.com?

Or should I have 2 feeds on my website on 2 different pages. One for news and one my blog?

I think I've always fudged the function of the website by trying to make it do everything. So I'm hoping to get a grip on it a bit more this time round. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Enda

Hey Enda,

There are two ways you can do it.

1. You can create a category like "music articles" or something and then create content all day long. There are plugins out there as well that will allow you to remove a category from your home page feed if you don't want your fans to see those articles when they come to your site. But I would still absolutely have a category link on the home page. You don't want to hide the content from Google's spiders.

2. Just create a second site and be your own advertiser. This allows you to be more targeted with your domain name.
