I am rocking Facebook... Reach is 18k... i've got 221 clicks and I am only paying $.07 per click!
Here's my squeeze page:
http://www.loulombardimusic.com/
Now before you say that I don't have the arrow etc... on the right side let me tell you that when I did the page originally that I DID use the John O template. BUT the problem was that that page would not display properly on mobile. THE ONLY thing on the page was that arrow and the name and email form. That took up the ENTIRE page. The headline, picture, description etc... were not visible without MAJOR scrolling. This version looks better on mobile. and a large majority of my clicks are from mobile devices
Also... I know that the headline is small.. again.. it was not readable on mobile with the larger bold font... I shrunk it down in order for more info to be visible without scrolling...as well as legibility. I just did that like 15 minutes ago so I am not sure what the results might be yet.
FYI I had ZERO conversions with the John O template as well ... So am thinking that the template is not the issue... but I am open to any and all suggestions
Also... should I pause my ad until we get the squeeze page thing fixed?
Thanks in advance! 🙂
Lou
P.S. I'm attaching a screen capture of my FB ad just for reference
Hey Lou,
.07 per click (assuming it's to website) is a really good price. Doesn't get much better in fact. What are your targeting settings?
Regarding what you described for the mobile display of the squeeze page, it sounds like you either have a bug in your code, something is set weird, or you have an old outdated version of the theme (there have been a few updates over the years). I'm looking at mine on my iPhone right now and it's very clean. Headline at the top, picture, quotes, copy, then arrow and opt in form. The headline is not small, and is sized as it should be.
It's no surprising that it wouldn't convert while displaying as you described. The page you have now could be part of teh problem, but it could be something else.
Why don't you pause the ad and then throw up the original template, and then email a link to support@www.mmmanifesto.com so we can see what the issue is. Steve will be able to help you with that.
Simultaneously, post the targeting settings here, and attach that image of the ad. It never came through. I can then comment further.
I also need to know if you have had any conversions at all with the current ad, according to Aweber.
Thanks.

The clicks are to the website... but no conversions from FB. Am getting a few every day from Twitter using John's Twitter stratagey
I created a new version based on the "John O" template... but haven't promoted it yet... You can see it here: http://www.loulombardimusic.com/test1/ There must have been some update etc... because it displays better but still you need to scroll to the bottom of the page to find the arrow and form etc... IMHO the "Download Now" button with the form on another page makes more sense... but that's just how I see it.
What do you suggest?
Hey Lou,
Make sure you are going off of the Aweber conversion stats rather than the FB conversion stats. I have seen a lot of people make mistakes with the conversion code, and typically I get about 10% more conversions than FB actually records. Not saying that's what is happening. Just something to keep in mind.
In my opinion the arrow at the bottom of the page makes more sense because you are effectively walking the reader towards the offer. In theory, they should get to the bottom of your copy and be filled with the desire to take the next step.
That said, I didn't have any real problem with your initial changes to the template. i just think that when something isn't working, go back to the plan. Find a few things that do work and make changes from there. If you deviate from the beginning, you have less of a grasp on where the problem is coming from.
I just pulled the new page up on my site and it looks normal to me.
The issues I personally have with your page at the moment are design based. Things look a bit messy from my perspective. The download buttons you have placed throughout. Not only would I not use them right now, but it appears that you have flattened the image somewhere in the process because the background is not transparent on your download buttons, where it is on the master image in MMM. It causes the button background to not match the page color. But I would remove them altogether, accept for in the opt in box. At least to start. And I would fix the one in the opt in box so the image background was transparent.
I'd also remove the graphic you have added to the header of your Aweber header and just stick to the layout in MMM. Again, just to start. We need to strip things down and build back up. But there is too much deviation right out of the gate.
With all of the above said, my hunch is that this is more of a market to message match issue. To address that I still need to know what your targeting settings are. IE, interests, location, age... everything. I can comment more on the creative once I know that stuff.

I was looking at my targeting...
I am targeting men and women in the US Europe and Australia who speak English.
Ages 21-50
I targeted people who are "interested" in Gov't Mule, Slash, Led Zeppelin, Black Berry Smoke, Black Crows, Rival Sons, The Temperance Movement, Warren Haynes, Monster Truck (band) and the style of music Hard Rock.
When I just re-checked this list I noticed that I had accidentally added "Heavy Metal" which should not have been there... also had some weird video game "Battlefield..." something. I have NO idea how those got in there... and one or two other things. BUt all the others were there... Would those few faux pas through things off that much?
And that's my ad...not sure if I attached it before.
I REALLY appreciate your help...you are THE BEST! 🙂
Lou
Hey Lou,
Couple problems that I see here...
1. remove the language targeting. You only want to use the language targeting when you are targeting people who don't speak the primary language of a country you are targeting. IE, Spanish speaking people living in The US.
2. You might try raising your minimum age to 25. That has always worked best for me. I think that audience just has a greater attention span and more disposable income.
3. That is WAY to many targeting options. You just want target a single interest per ad set. The only exception to this would be when you are targeting audiences that are so small that you group them together as a sort of hail Mary ad. But you don't want to rely on those types of ads anyway. When you group interests together like that they all get wildly different results and you don't know which are working and which are not. All it might take is one under performer and the whole campaign is a bust. And yes, those accidental targeting options would have hurt you as well. You also want to steer clear of broad targeting options like "hard rock", you're looking for niche audiences that range between around 200,000, and 1,000,000. That is not a hard and fast rule, just a general guide.
4. I'd be curious to see you split test some images as well. That image you are using is certainly attention getting, but happy faces tend to perform better in my experience. That may not be the case here, but it would be worth split testing a few images to make sure you are using the best possible image.
I would stop this campaign and start a new one from scratch, using the suggestions above.
Hope that helps.
