Hey John, I'm re-vamping all my old MMM stuff.  I set it all up back in 2014/2015 and haven't touched it since.  This is one of the pages I created that one of my funnel emails has a link to.  And now that I'm revisiting it, I don't want it to have the email address opt-in form on this page:

http://www.stuarttoddwhitworth.....re-chance/

It's been so long, so I don't exactly remember the reasoning behind why the email opt-in form is on every blog / story page.  I'm guessing it was because if anyone shared the page, people who see it and aren't already subscribers could join the email list if they wanted to.  But on mobile it literally comes up at the very top of the page.  So I'm thinking I'll just get rid of it.  This page is for people who are already going through the funnel anyway.

I can't figure out how to get rid of the email opt-in form so that it's just the video and the text, how do I do that?

-------------------------------------------------------

Okay I'm editing this now.  I guess I figured out how to get rid of the email opt-in form.  But now it looks REALLY strange on mobile.  Maybe I didn't do it right.  On the side of the screen in Wrodpress I changed the template to "Full width page with no sidebar".  Was that the wrong way to do it?  How do it get it to look presentable on mobile (looks great on desktop now, looks terrible on mobile).

Hi Stuart,

Steve here from support.  I looked at your link, but I'm not seeing an email sign up form anywhere on that page.  I see a comment form at the very bottom, but not email sign up.

As for having a sign-up form in the sidebar of pages that use the default page template, this is utilized as a means for people to sign up when they find your site via the search engines, rather than as a result of direct advertising.

Let us know if we can ever help with anything else.

This is a signature file.  You can edit your own by clicking "profile" and selecting "Edit Signature".  You can make it an image, or just plain text.  You can also link it to wherever you like.  Perhaps your Squeeze Page?

Hey Steve,

Yes, I was able to get rid of the email sign up form.  But now it looks REALLY strange on mobile (looks fine on desktop/laptop).  Look at it on your phone, you'll see what I mean.  The entire page is squeezed into the left side of the screen.  How do I fix this?

Hi Stuart,

Steve here.  What did you do to get rid of the sign up form?

It appears that you've deleted the sidebar altogether, which makes me think that you've made an edit to the theme.

The theme contains different page types that serve different functions.  There are also page types that do not include the sidebar at all.

Can you explain what changes you made to get rid of the sidebar?

Hey Steve,

In order to get rid of the sign up form, I switched the template.  There were 6 options for different templates:

Default template

Home page

Contact

Full width page with no sidebar

Squeeze page

So I switched it to the "Full width page with no sidebar" template, and now the email sign up form is gone, like I wanted.  But now the page looks really weird on mobile, with the entire page squeezed into the left side of the screen.  Have you looked at it on mobile?  How do I fix this to make it look right on mobile?

Hi Stuart,

It looks like you may be using the older MMM 3 theme. Is that right? That was released way back in 2013 and is no longer supported. The current theme is the MMM 4 theme (The TunePipe theme). I just created a test page and did not have the issues that you are having on mobile:

https://www.johnoszajca.xyz/test-4/

That said, I don't believe the issue you are having is with the theme. I think it's in the video embed code. Can you try removing the video all together and seeing how the page looks on mobile. I believe that is what is breaking your mobile view.

To address your questions around the design...

In the MMM 4 theme, the arrow and sign up form are at the bottom of the page on mobile, not the top. And the theme is designed this way so that when someone lands on your page because it was shared on social, or someone discovers it through the search engines you can pick up some additional subs.

You will be much better off with the MMM 4 theme though, as it has many more tools and is very versatile and can be easily customized.

Hope that helps.

Hey John, I tried getting rid of the video altogether, and the page still looks weird with the entire page squeezed into the left side of the screen when viewed on mobile (see attachment, I took a screenshot).  I went ahead and added the video back in since that doesn't seem to be the issue.

I just now cycled through all of the template options:

Default template - makes the email form show up at the very top on mobile, which I don't want

Home page - makes the email form show up at the very top on mobile

Contact - makes the email form show up at the very top on mobile

Full width page with no sidebar - makes the entire page squeezed into the left side of the screen on mobile

Sales page - slightly better option... no email form, and page is correct width on mobile.  But there's no header at all which isn't ideal.

Squeeze page - page is correct width on mobile, no header, big arrow at bottom

So it seems like it must be an issue of the template.  Does that sound correct?

Hi Stuart,

No, that doesn't sound correct. That template has been out of commission for a number of years now. As mentioned, it was released in 2013 and had been replaced by a new version. But when last used there was no issue like the one you are describing. It sounds like either a plugin is causing a conflict, or there has been some custom code added along the way that is breaking the display.

Do you have any unprescribed plugins activated? I often see page builder plugins and cache plugins activated that should not be.

The simplest solution is to use the newer template. It can do much more and looks much better. But I'm sure that issue can be resolved by undoing whatever has been done to break it.

Hey John, I just logged into my wordpress and navigated to the plugins tab on the left and it says there are no plugins (see attached screen shot)

And this may be the dumbest question of 2020, but... how do I get the newer templates? No-pluggins.pngImage Enlarger

Hey Stuart,

That's super weird. Wordpress comes with some plugins installed and my course instructs you to add a bunch more. The fact that they are gone suggests that something has been worked on with your site. Has anyone worked on this site? It almost looks as though a developer has renamed the plugin folder to deactivate it.

The newer template comes with MMM 4. Youc an learn more about it at https://www.musicmarketingmani......com/mmm4/

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey John, I honestly have no idea.  I set all this up in 2014/2015 and then didn't touch it for five years and now am diving back into it all.  So I don't know what may have happened with the plugins.

Am I correct in assuming that if I purchase MMM 4.0 and install the newer MMM template that all of the Wordpress plugins will be restored?

Hi Stuart,

It's too hard for me to know what may or may not have been done. But something is very atypical here. Installing a new theme will not restore plugins. Instead, what I would probably do is contact your host and ask for their assistance in deleting the entire site and database, and I would start over. There are just too many bugs and weird things going on here. I'm concerned that the core files have either been edited or hacked. And because so much work needs to be done it's likely easier to just start fresh. If you have content you don't want to lose you can export all of the content first and then re-import it after you get the new site/theme up.

It is still possible to have someone take a look at what you have and fix it, and I can refer someone if needed, but if it were me I would start over with the new course and follow along with the lessons, just to get back up to speed.

Hey John,

Okay gotcha, thanks for the advice.  My primary concern:  it is REALLY important to me to have my squeeze page reviewed by you in this new squeeze page review lesson (you probably saw that I was the very first person to sign up).  I've done a lot of work on my squeeze page in the last few days and I really want to hear what your thoughts are on it.  So I don't want to delete the entire site & database right before you're about to do the reviews.  Do you happen to know when you're going to be doing the reviews so I can either wait until after, or make sure that I have it back up and running before hand?

Also, yes I have a ton of content I don't want to lose - apparently back in 2014 / 2015 when I set all this up, I created no less than 18 pages in Wordpress (many are blog posts with various content / music videos / stories behind the songs / etc).  So I would want to feel very confident in the exporting process and feel safe that I'm not losing anything.  Do you have any links that will explain to me how to correctly export everything?

Hey Stuart,

I have not done the reviews yet. I will likely do them at the top of the week. Don't make the changes until you see the lesson come out. Which will be soon.

You don't need to worry about losing your content. The content is in the database and when you change a theme, the content is all still there and is not impacted. So no worries on that front. Only the design changes.

Sorry, I forgot that we had been discussing a total reboot to address any potential hacks or modified code...

In that case you can use a back up plugin and back everything up to be safe. Then also export all the pages and posts. Once you install a fresh new site, you can import all the pages and posts. If for any reason you didn't like something, or something was missing, you would always have the back up files.

Cool, I won't make the changes yet until the squeeze page review lesson comes out.

This may be a dumb question, but:

As for backing up all my content... now that I think about it, the content on the various 18 Wordpress pages of my site is really just the text (the blog posts) and imbedded videos for the most part (example: http://www.stuarttoddwhitworth.....re-chance/  ).  So as for backing it up, I guess I could literally just copy/paste the text into Word documents and save them, and then of course I still have the links to embedded the YouTube videos, that's no problem.  Am I missing anything, are there any other elements that would need to be saved if I decide to go the route of deleting the entire site and database and just starting over from scratch with the new templates?

You can copy and paste, but there is a much easier way. I would use this method: https://wpcrib.com/export-impo.....s-website/ - It will only take you a sec to get everything.
