hi guys,
I was all gung ho when i first signed up and powered through most of the lessons, but then i had to take a long break while I got my head around a new job. Now that I’ve come back to finish the last couple of steps, my mind is foggy on a few things... Ive pretty much completed everything now, but Im stuck on a couple of details to do with the LTO. Ive decided to to a 2-4-1 album deal - buy the Album get a free Ep.
Here are my questions... 1. If they click the order now button for the 2-4-1 deal, do they still get taken to the upsell page? My upsell is a box set of the latest album, an older album, a live Ep and a rarities Album - the ep from the LTO is not in this box set, as I think I recall being told not to include the same thing in the LTO as in the upsell, but I’m not sure why that is, so if you can explain this that would be helpful... if they do choose the box set, do they still get the 2-4-1 deal? How do I work this out?
2. If they say no to the box set, I assume I have to write another separate email to deliver the 2-4-1 downloads, but I can’t remember where/how to set this up... can someone direct me to one of the lessons that explains this bit?
ahhh...I’m so confused. I’ve been doing my own head in trying to wrap my brain around the sequence of it all...
thanks in advance
Hey Nat,
Glad to hear your back at it.
Yes, you would have the exact same upsell for both the normal priced album and the LTO.
You would not include any part of your main offer in the upsell because people would be less likely to buy the upsell if they already owned part of it.
The email set up you are asking about is covered in MMM 4.0. I assume you have that?
There are a couple of ways to set it up, but the long and short of it is that you have one list for the main album (discount or not it is the same list), and one list for the upsell. If you set things up with the paypal integration outlined in MMM then they would get automatically added to the list or each product after purchasing. If you want to save on subscriber storage costs (you get charged for duplicate subscribers on different lists) you would create an unsubscribe rule that unsubscribes someone from the main customer list when they get added to the upsell list. But since it's only $8 per 1000 people, this is not a huge deal.
That all make sense?

Hi John,
thanks for your reply...I’ve gone back and re-watched some of the previous vids and found the bits I was forgetting. Slowly getting there. Thanks again
Sounds good Nat. Keep me posted on your progress.

Ok...so just to be sure I did this right and haven’t missed a step...
to create my 2-4-1 LTO, I followed the steps for the “box set” email and created a new list in aweber. If they buy the LTO, they get an email from that list that delivers the downloads and they get directed to the step-1 upsell. I hope I’ve done it all right
I think im now finally done! hoping it all works...now to get a friend to test it! Fingers crossed ??
Hey Nat,
I'm not 100% sure I understand what you mean by "follow the steps for the box set email", but basically, what you would do is...
After someone buys you would have them added to the customer list via the paypal integration as shown in MMM. That email would deliver both albums.
After someone orders the LTO they would get redirected to the upsell order page.
Then you would create an upsell list and set it up the same way as you did the LTO, using the same paypal integration, and email delivery method..
That make sense?

hi John... sorry I've confused you...and sorry about my own confusion! Ive got MMM4 and it's my first time doing anything like this.
What I meant was when creating my 2-4-1 deal, I followed the part of the video in the lesson about creating the box set upsell that showed how to write the email in aweber to deliver the albums as that's the part I'd forgotten how to do. It had been so long since doing that lesson that by the time I got to the LTO I couldn't get my head around how I was going to deliver the 2 albums in the LTO deal.
So, are you saying I didn't need to set up a new list for customers who buy the LTO? I should just add them to the Main customer List? If that's correct, then how do I add another email to main list customers that delivers the email with the 2 download links? Do I add a new campaign to main list customers? I still haven't had enough experience with Aweber yet to get my head around how it all works.
I'm starting to now wish I'd just followed your discount offer until I have my head around it more... sigh 🙁
No worries Nat,
It's not as complicated as it feels. There are different ways you can set it up. But this is how I'm currently doing things.
One list for your funnel
One list for each product.
- your album is one product
- Your upsell is one product.
- If you are offering a two for one then yes, the LTO would also be a unique product. If it;s a discount, it would not be.
Use paypal to pass the email to the appropriate list based on what they buy. Apply tags "upon subscribe" and deliver email campaigns based on tags. Those first customer emails will deliver the download links, no matter what has been bought.
Make sense?

Hi John,
Thanks for persevering with me.... if I'm understanding what you've outlined above, I think I have set it up that way. I have three buttons on PayPal: 1 for my album, 1 for the upsell and 1 for the LTO. Then in Aweber, I have Main List, Main List Customers, Box Set customers and now I've added LTO customers which delivers the two albums. Does that sound right?
I'm not sure if I've tagged them correctly, but I will go back and check.
So far in my test, the funnel has started. I signed up for my free track and I'm being taken thru the funnel. I'm only up to blog post one though, Blog 2 should arrive today. I guess I'll find out if I did it right when I try to purchase the LTO.
My partner went straight to purchasing the album from the site, which worked and delivered the album, but obviously as she's already purchased, she's not being taken through the funnel. Her communication has stopped. That's correct isn't it?
Thanks again John, appreciate the support.
Yep, that all sounds right. It sounds like you have everything set up correctly. And yes, once a person orders they should be unsubscribed from the main list and they should stop getting the promotional emails. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Ok , so I just got my LTO email and followed the links to purchase, which all worked, but then I haven't been sent the downloads, so I'm guessing I've done something wrong in Aweber? I purchased via PayPal, but used the guest checkout facility and my work email, so it wasn't the same email as my PayPal or Aweber account. I also tried purchasing through the guest checkout using my partners email, but she didn't get the download links either. She got the album download when she first purchased from the website album page using her PayPal account, but she clicked out of PayPal and didn't click the "return to sellers website" link so she didn't get offered the up-sell, which is why I went and purchased it again on my credit card using her email address in the guest checkout. No downloads were sent. I've taken some screen shots of my Aweber account for you to look at. Should using the guest checkout make any difference? Or have I missed a step?
Hi Nat,
Steve here. Could it be that this email address had been previously subscribed to the list that is set to deliver the paid product?
If so, you would need to unsubscribe and delete the address from the list, from within the Aweber dashboard.
Hey Nat, just seeing this now. It got marked as read and I missed it until just now. Did you get this resolved?

Hi John,
Thanks for checking in. Sorry for my delay in responding. The notification email went to my junk mail and I'm only finding it now.
I think I've finally managed to resolve it. I asked Aweber support for their advice and they advised unlinking PayPal, then re-linking and setting up again, then I created a brand new email and used that to test again and everything seemed to work. I purchased the fans only box set from the second last campaign email. I did, however, still receive the last email in the campaign reminding me to purchase before the count down timer ran out even though I had already purchased. Should I have got this if I already purchased?
Thanks
Nat
Hey Nat,
There is a new issue with tags when using campaigns. At the moment, if you remove the tags it doesn't stop the email series. You need to actually be removed from the list to stop the email series. So to solve that, what I currently do is create three lists. One for general subs, one for customers, and one for upsell customers. When someone buys they get added to the customer list, and then I set up an automation rule within aweber to unsubscribe from the general list when subscribing to either the customer or the upsell list. Then I deliver the download links in the welcome email for each product.
This is the set up process I show you in MMM 4.0.
That should solve the issue for you.
Cheers.
