We were talking about this in the copywriting class today, but the Mashshare Share Buttons now show the number of shares on top. So, there were a bunch of blogposts that we looked at today that had ZERO shares on the top, so that looked like shit. It's because the plug-in has changed. Anyway, I know it's part of the MMM plug-in area, but you guys might want to disable it, because I think the plug-in probably changed and we didn't realize it because we don't look at all our old blog posts all the time, LOL.

Just an FYI!

Hi Mike,

Sorry, I'm not sure I totally follow.

I still have the plugin installed on my test site and it's working fine.

Here's a screen shot...

You can adjust where it appears in settings, as shown...

Let me know if I'm misunderstanding something.

Sure, I didn't mean that the plugin wasn't working correctly, but that it's showing the shares on the top of the post. You mentioned in the call yesterday that if a blogpost has zero shares on the top, it doesn't look good so we should hide it.

I don't remember it originally having the number of shares on the top of the post, because I would have removed it earlier (along with the comment dates and stuff). So I was just following up from the copywriting call to let people know that they can just de-activate the plugin if they don't have any shares on the post, thanks!

Ah, I see, I thought you were saying that something wasn't working. I didn't mean to suggest that the zero shares doesn't look good (though it's not the greatest), just that the position of the share count (at the top of the post) didn't look that great to me. I think it should be at the bottom of the post.

To adjust where the sharecount displays you just need to go into settings and select "bottom" from the drop down to have it display below the posts, as shown in the second screenshot.

There is also a setting in this particular post that allows you to set a fake sharecount of sorts to insure that it never displays zero. It basically takes the number you enter and multiplies it by some post specific factor to insure that the share count number is always different. I wouldn't over hype this number, but it's a tool if you need it.
