Hey John, so yeah its kinda weird, I'm missing my replies to comments people left on my blog...
I have this old blog from 2014 that is still getting comments, and I reply to every one of them. My replies are mostly still there, but the ones from 2014 are gone - hopefully not entirely. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you!
Hmmm, technical stuff like this is not my area of expertise, but I can see what I can see.
For starters, have you gone into "discussion" in your dashboard to check if the comments are there? Let's first see if they are gone completely or just not displaying.
Is the comment number correct but the comments are gone, or are the comment numbers short as well?

I feel the same way man, no worries.
I don't know how to view comments in Discussion, but I went to the blog page and clicked on "moderation tool" - found all my missing replies were there, but then I clicked on "view thread" while still inside the moderation tool and those replies were missing again.
The number of comments it shows matches the number of comments on the page, but no replies I left or any thread nesting are included in that "comment" number. I vaguely remember that number used to include it all, which was cool. Maybe I just need to update my theme? I don't have the MMM 4.0 theme yet, and while I don't think that would matter here, I'm not sure.
Thanks for any light you may be able to shed man!
Hey Brian,
This is really tough to diagnose without logging in. You want to email me a username and password with admin status and I can see if I can spot anything? Just be sure to mention this post in the email. Send it to john@www.mmmanifesto.com.

Hey John,
Done and done - emailed username and password, I think admin status is automatic from there?
Thank you man, thats really awesome.
Thanks. I've sent you an email reply. Cheers.

Hey John, I didn't want to clog your inbox so I figured I'd reply to your email here. I should have specified that it was a FB comments issue, and I appreciate you going in there and trying a few things. I tried installing a couple other FB comments plugins but to no avail. I'm gonna just move on from the issue for now and focus on driving some new comments. Thank you for all your help man, I'll let you know if I resolve anything. Cheers.
If its not happening on anything but very old comments then I wouldn't stress it too much. But I get why it's bugging you. You do some digging and I'll do the same and let's see if we can fix the issue.

Right on John, thanks again. I dug up some old support thread from somewhere from 2015 - someone was missing comments, and there was an answer to his question to update to the 2015 WP theme. I know nothing about that since I use the MMM Theme, but does that ring any bells as to what my issue may be?
That doesn't ring any bells. But something else is occurring to me... Have you made any changes to this site's page structure at any point? This could be in your wordpress settings, it could be by simply adding an https certificate, it could be in Dreamhost, or anything at all that would effect the way your site, or this page url is displaying. Because that would break things related to the comments.

PS, and when you say you can see them but they are just not appearing... where can you see them?

I don't remember clearly, but I my have fiddled around in there a few months ago and changed something on accident. Where would be the first place I should go look under the hood to fix it?
And yes when I'm down below a blog post, right above the FB comments I go to "Moderation Tool" >> "Public" >> then I see all of my comments and replies are there on that page. I've attached a couple screen shot of that page:
The way FB comments work (as I understand it) is that they appear on your page, in part, based on the page URL. So if you changed the page structure that could theoretically break something. Problem is, if you change it again that would break anything that was posted since you made the change.
I could reach out to a programmer for you to see if they can fix it but it would probably cost in the $50 - $100 range. To be honest, since they are working now it's a bit of a puzzle and page structure was the most likely thing my Google search was pulling up. But tech issues are not really my thing.
Sorry I dont have the answer to this one. It seems to be more of a FB issue and is ironically complicated by the fact that it's not happening to anything new.
