 Hi

This might be the daftest question you've had in a long time, but where did I insert the custom field that gives the message above the opt-in box on my posts? I want to change it - but I can't find it!

Just to be clear, I can find it for individual pages, which are all different, but I can't find the one for posts.

Also, I want some of my pages to be listed in the side menu underneath the opt-in box. If I add 'pages' as a widget, it shows them all, which looks really weird. I think there is an option to exclude some pages by entering their page ID, but I have no idea what a page ID is. I tried putting the page title in, which didn't work - could you point me towards what I need to do please?

Sorry if the answers to these questions are obvious - I have spent hours trying to work them out today and failed miserably.

Hope you can help

Deb x

Hey Deb,

Not daft at all. For the blog, you add that text using a text widget. Go to widgets and add a text widget to the top of your side bar (if you haven't already) and add the text you want to appear below the arrow. Use center and line break tags to make everything look the way you want.

To find the page ID you just go into the pages tab in your dashboard and hover over the title of the page. Look down in the bottom left hand side of your screen and you will see a URL with a number in it. The number is your page ID.

You could also do this by adding links using a text widget, but it may have a slightly different look to it if you do it that way. There are also plugins out there like "Simple Page Specific Sidebars" but I haven't used any of them and can't vouch for them. The page ID approach is probably best, it just can be a bit confusing.

Hope that helps.

Thanks - I'll give it a try.

Here's another one. Is it possible to change the background just for one page? I can see how to customise the whole site, and change the background page colour throughout, but I don't want to do that.

What I really want to do is put an image on the page - covering the whole page - then have text and images overlaid onto it.

It's for a media kit page. It might sound a bit over the top for what should be a fairly functional page, but with the white background that I use throughout the site this page looks a bit stark when the music that is being released is quite dreamy and feel-good.

Is this possible?

Thanks as ever for your help

Hi Deb,

That functionality is not built into the the theme. But I'm sure a coder/designer could do it for less than $50 if you need something created. if you want a referral let me know.

Hi Deb,

I just wanted to jump in, in case John isn't on until later.

Generally we'd recommend getting in touch with Scott James at http://websitesforrockstars.com

Just tell Scott that John sent you.

Thanks - I have sent Scott a DM.

I have actually bitten the bullet and asked if he has/could create a template for an EPK to use with the MMM theme. Let's see what he says.

Thanks again for your help
