I know a little html, mostly in the context of using wordpress. I made both of my traditional websites using wordpress. I'm trying to figure out options for creating squeeze pages.

John,

I made a nice squeeze page using your template (http://www.musicmarketingmanif.....e-templete) and SeaMonkey composer. Thank you for the clear instructions and quick start template, but I'd like to have a few more design options. Do you, or anybody reading this make squeeze pages with wordpress? (With or without buying an expensive plugin?)

Or to ask it differently, How do you make your squeeze pages? What software do you use?

Steve,

I love your squeeze page with the video. (http://www.jamroommanifesto.co.....istake.php) Is that a wordpress thing? Or are you using some html editing program? Or are you using a template or a plug-in type of thing?

Thanks,

Jonathan Wright

Jonathan,

Thanks for the kind words.

That is actually a static html page that is hosted outside of the wordpress platform.  I use wordpress for the jamroommanifesto blog, but those squeeze pages are outside of wordpress.

I actually coded those myself (with limited html knowledge).  That type of page is really easy to make and I'd be happy to come up with a template of some sort for you to duplicate it.

I'll even send you the style-sheet so the page divides just like mine if you like.  The only thing you would have to worry about is your own header graphic and border graphic (not necessary though).

Let me know and I'll try to put it together for you fairly quickly.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. I may take you up on that...

But, Before you take up your time making a template... have you heard of optimize press? http://www.optimizepress.com/s.....b/

They charge the magical amount of $97 - Seems like a lot of money?  Seems like an easy way out of my quandary though...

Any thoughts?

Jonathan

No worries,

I don't know much about optimize press, but it looks like it has all the handy elements you would need for responsive pages.

It's your call really if you want to shell out $97.

I didn't watch enough of the sales vid to know, but make sure that the stuff they are offering is actually proven to convert.

I own optimize press. It's pretty great but I don't actually use it. I bought it for a project that never materialized. With that said, it's a bit more for internet marketers, but you could certainly use it for this.

But another option is to just install wordpress on a subdomain of your site (two installations on the same domain) and create a simple 2 column theme with no nav bar. You'd have to have a little knowledge of tweaking themes but it sounds like you do.

Here's an example of a wordpress squeeze page I created a while back for a project of mine: http://www.articletrafficpro.com/

You could also just create a custom page that did the same thing, but honestly I tried that and it made my brain hurt, so I just install wordpress multiple times when I need theme options for the same domain. Although I'm sure Scott or one of the designers could do something like that for you pretty easily.

Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective? Hey Guys, any ideas where I can find someone (Intern?) who could convert my website from HMTL (which I know nothing about  and cant update) into wordpress?  I have not got a lot of money so I need someone cheap but reliable! Bit of a story, but the short of it is that I cant start my sales funnel with the new squeeze page until this is sorted-thanks

I am not able to answer your question about getting an intern or low pay helper, but just suggesting that building a site with Wordpress mostly doesn't require html knowledge. Sure, if you want to do something fancy it does... But, if you are going to do something fancy, you may need to hire a professional instead of an intern or low paid helper. I mostly copy and paste when I build my stuff on Wordpress. You can copy from your old site, paste it into wordpress.

Also, there are tons of help forums and help youtube videos for any questions you have about Wordpress. That is what is so great about Wordpress- so many people use it that there are tons of answers out there if you simply type your question into google or youtube search.

Didn't answer your question, but, hopefully it was helpful.

Scott James (in the forum) is great, easy to work with, and pretty cheap if you ask me.  I've been turning to him quite a bit the past few weeks.

Steve,

If your offer is still open to share your squeeze page as a template, I would like to take you up on it.

I ended up using John's as my text squeeze page and now I want to try a video squeeze page like yours.

Again, only if it doesn't take much time.

Thanks again for your offer,

Jonathan

Thanks to you both. The reason that I want to convert to wordpress is because I know nothing about HMTL and as a result, I cant update my site myself.  I will try and make contact with Scott, through this forum?

Hi guys,

Sorry for being late to arrive at the party. I'm not aware of any system currently that words with Wordpress for making squeeze pages that costs less than $97. Optimize press is one, the WP Squeeze Pro that I mentioned in another thread is another. To main flaw (if you want to call it that) with Optimize press is that using it will change the entire look of your website to something more of an 'internet marketing' flavour. This is fine if you want to buy a separate domain to host your squeeze page only as John teaches.

WP Squeeze Pro has a pile of templates and you can tweak your own as well - but I don't actually own a copy and haven't seen how easy it is to use. The best thing about it is that it's a plugin, and therefore can work with any theme. This is ideal if you're not going to have a separate domain for your website, or if you want to create multiple landing pages (i.e. to create lists based on where your traffic is coming from) while still retaining the look of your site elsewhere.

Ekow - As for a low paid intern to transfer from html to wordpress - have you tried Fiver? As Jonathan rightly points out, all you need to do is to copy and paste your html from your html site into Wordpress - at least on the content end of things. If you want to do fancy styling, use tables and all that stuff - it's not going to work so hot. Otherwise I'm sure Scott can help you out!

Hi Mike

I havent tried fiverr (ironic-as I recommended it to others previously!)-I thought you could only ask for things that could be done for $5. Will give them a go straight away-thanks

You'd be surprised on what you can get for $5. For instance, if you had a 15 page website that you wanted to convert you might be able to find someone who will do it for $5 per 3 or 5 pages.  Worth a look anyway!

If you go to a site like scriptlance you can have someone convert an html page into a wordpress template for you. I've seen it range from $50 - $200.

Scott James is a great resource as well. You can get him at http://websitesforrockstars.com

That's great guys, thanks John.  Once it is converted I can update and maintain it myself. One area that I will learn to do for myself!

Yes, updating wordpress sites yourself is extremely simple. Good luck 🙂

Hey Guys,

Getting back to the original question of whether you should use Wordpress or an HTML editing program for your website, I thought I'd throw another option out there - Weebly.

Weebly.com is a free "web 2.0" site but unlike Wordpress.com allows you to integrate 3rd party code (a.k.a. optin submission forms) and unlike Blogger allows you to create a page that is completely clean of other distracting links.

I created a squeeze page almost two years ago using Weebly that you can see below (note: the list is defunct so I've removed the optin submission form).

http://indiebandwebsites.weebly.com/

Is this an example of the best squeeze page ever? Hardly - but once again, the price is right (free) and it can allow you to host a squeeze page independent of your main band website without having to invest in a separate domain. If memory serves you can also add a video to make this into a video squeeze page.

Weebly is very user-friendly as far as drag and drop layout options and a WYSIWYG editor - the main headache as I recall is making sure to remove any other links (besides the one in the footer - nothing you can do about that one).

I'm all about offering cost-free options for those starting out as I can appreciate wanting to keep costs low, focus on getting some results and getting 'into the black' before spending money needlessly. Combine this with the free month of Aweber or a free Mail Chimp account and there's absolutely no reason that you can't start testing out all you've learned about creating a squeeze page and a mailing list right away without costing you a penny.

Then if you're really motivated, you can start split testing different squeeze pages against each other and actually earn the money to invest in your dedicated squeeze page domain before you shell out the cash - all while taking action and "learning by doing" what you've learned in the Music Marketing Manifesto and here in the Inside Circle.

Now go and kick some ass in 2012!

P.S. You can only earn money if you actually have something to sell, an enticing offer and an order button to complete the transaction.

Oh crap!. I'm sorry Jonathan...  I totally missed this post somehow.  Yes the offer still stands.  Just to be clear, were you talking about my jamroom manifesto squeeze page, or the one for The Prisoners.  Both are similar, so it probably doesn't matter, but yeah I can pretty much copy the code and leave room for you to customize.

Do me a favor... private message me so I don't miss this again.  Sorry, bud.  🙂
