The marketing master has spoken 🙂 Thanks for your very clear and extensive answers!
Just 1 more technical question: is it ok to add your message in a table with a certain width, say 500px? Nothing I hate more then horizontal scrolling for every line in hotmail... I see you do this yourself with <br>'s?
Thank you again John!
Hey Jasper,
Â
You could do it that way as far as I know, I just use standard Aweber formatting right there in the editor. If memory serves, standard formatting is 68 characters per line.
Â
There is also a handy little tool called Formatit - http://formatit.com/ - You can just copy and paste your text in the field, set the desired characters per line and press "format it". Copy, paste, and you're all set.
Â
FYI, some people feel that even less characters per line is better. The idea is to keep a person's eyes moving effortlessly down the page. Someone, somehwere tested it and apparently it can help. It's why you sometimes see those ultra-thin web pages.
Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective? I've always done my sales letters a bit skinnier than the usual page.
Not because I've tested it or anything. Only because everything I've ever been 'compelled' to buy had a skinny sales letter.
Â
I think I was the test.
Â
Beautiful fake sig, Jasper! Nice touch.

I just wanted to say John, you're totally right about the squeeze pages. I went from getting one subscriber a week (if I was lucky) to getting 10 - 20 each day just with that simple change. And numbers are climbing. Thanks for everything.
Yeah, but you know we're both here because we want 100 signups a day. Â This stuff is kind of addictive!

100 sign-ups a day is not unreasonable. If you are split testing your squeeze pages (google website optimizer) then you can see where you improvements can be made. If one call to action is more effective than another, replace the old one and make a new variation of the one that performs well.
When you can measure the results, you can ultimately improve them. Same goes for your ads to lead people to the squeeze page.
Test and track everything! 🙂
