Hi,
A while back John talked about having all his subscribers (customers and non-customers) in one big list, and was using tags to trigger campaigns. Then he found out that people would still get all the mails within the campaign even those he removed the tags from them. So he spilt all his subscribers up again in different lists. Do i remember that correctly? I think he told it in a coaching call a while back.
Anyway is it even possible to tag people using the paypal integration in Aweber? Because that would be needed to send out the download links for people who had bought something right? How did John do it?
And maybe I am mistaken, but I think Aweber introduced a new feature "Remove subscribers from this campaign using tags", because wouldn't that be the missing feature to make it all work in one big list?
best regards,
Marc
Hi Marc,
You basically have it right. Aweber did introduce that feature. However I still stick with having one big list for all non-purchases, and a unique list for every product. It helps avoid a lot of minor segmentation issues that are not obvious until months later when you try to do something you hadn't anticipated.
So in other words, if I create 20 funnels over the years, they will all be within one list. But every time someone orders they get added to a new customer list and removed from the primary list. Keep in mind that if you do use a lot of active funnels at the same time, removing a person from the main list could cause issues if there are reasons you might want to send segmented emails out to the main list in the future. But that's not normally an issue.
