Hey steve and john. I believe you mentioned it somewhere in the course. but i'm not sure where. I'm wanting to embed a video on my wordpress site. and not do it through youtube. I want it to be a video that you can only see if you've signed up to my e-mail list. How can I do that? I've tried to upload one on host gator. said it was too big... ? any help is greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoyed your traveling john, and steve I hope you've been enjoying whatever you been doing too!
Hey Alan,
I was just off performing a show at a festival here in New Zealand. It was nice being back on the stage. It's been a while.
But yeah, most hosting companies will put a limit on file sizes that you can upload. There are no doubt plenty of services that would allow you to upload the video. I personally use Amazon S3. Getting set up with Amazon S3 is a confusing mess of Youtube videos. They do not make it easy. But they are a pay as you go service and they are very cheap compared to traditional hosting.
Once you have the video uploaded you will need a player or a plugin. I use Easy Video Player. But they are not cheap. You'd probably be better off searching for a Wordpress plugin. Just make sure it is one that works on Mobile.
To be totally honest, it will be a lot simpler for you to just create a private video on a platform like Youtube. But I understand the reasons you might not want to, which is why I go with the more expensive and complicated solutions.
