Yeah...flying sounds good John! I'm not really spending much time with the wesite now that it is online, just a little tweaking here and there, but I do agree. I spent waaaaayyyyyy to much time building it, that I should have spent on music or marketing. I'll be flying tomorrow though, back in the studio working on my new CD. Thanks for the reminder though!

There are some really good and valuable free plugins. Check out Akismet (screens out spam), All In One SEO Pack, Google Analytics For Wordpress and WP-DBManager (automatic backups) for starters. When checking out plugins, make sure whatever you are looking at installing is compatible with your version of Wordpress.

If you want a blog post to remain at the top of the list on your home page, go to Edit Post>Visibility: Public Edit and click on "Stick this post to the front page." That makes that particular post "sticky" so it will always stay at the top of the home page. At least that's how it's done with my Wordpress theme, which is one of the popular freebie ones.

Another tip about Wordpress: don't update to the latest version as soon as it comes out. Give it some time for them to get any bugs out and for you to check the compatibility of your already-installed plugins with the new version.

That last tip is a good one. Some one click installs have you set to update automatically by default. If his is the case you want to turn that off. It's a drag when your social media plugins (or whatever) suddenly stop working because of an update.

Here's another one that can really mess up your operation - I'm not sure if it's the case with the new default theme, but the twenty ten theme used to be updated when you updated Wordpress. Â If you're like me, who didn't realize this and you have a site that's running a customized version of this theme it will drive you insane!
