Hi guys

I'm using the weassup plugin to monitor tracking but finding a little tricky to work out what is what on their stats graph

Just wondering what stats/analytics plug in people are using or would recommend?

I know John O suggests using JetPack

Cheers

Hey Segge,

yeah, that Wassup plugin is a bit confusing. I went with it in MMM because at the time it was the best free plugin that showed unique users, but as we talked about the other day in our session, now the free Jetpack stats plugin shows unique users if you click the "show more information". Another good option is Clicky. They free account is a tad limited but it's a great service. The paid version has some really cool features like real time spying that allows you to see exactly what is happen live and in the moment. It's almost like having a fish finder on your website.

Hey John

Cheers - I think I'll start using JetPack.

What are the main things we should be looking at in regards to the stats/analytics?

Hi Segs,

Steve here.  You can glean all kinds of useful info from analytics.  Which pages are being viewed the most and their respective traffic sources, etc.  Some plugins also let you look at the typical visitor flow from page to page, so you can see emerging patterns and which content seems to be most interesting to people.

I know at one point the Google Analytics gave you a nice heat map of which parts of a page's content were getting looked at the most (beginning, middle, all the way through, etc.)

Some people get quite into traffic stats and all of the analysis that Steve mentions above. I personally monitor my Aweber stats more closely and don't spend much time on traffic stats. I mostly just monitor unique visitors and page views, as well as what pages people are viewing and incoming traffic sources (keywords and URLs). That way I I get a heads up if there is a traffic problem, or if there is an opportunity that I can better maximize on. But I don't personally obsess over traffic stats.
