I was wondering if anyone here, who's using their Aweber form as their welcome page on facebook, is seeing people signing up through that form or not?

I set that up a while back and ran PPC to it and got a pretty poor conversion rate, so I dropped it and decided to simply keep my Facebook page as my social channel and didn't worry about it as an opt in source. But I had PPC on my mind. I haven't tried it as just a static form on the FB landing page. Thing is, most of your traffic is going to come from your effort so why not send them to a squeeze page instead and keep your social channel pretty chill. At least that's been my thinking. I may play around with it though and change my mind at some point.

I have one on mine: https://www.facebook.com/MusicDeanFields

But to be honest the only reason I did it was because I had 2000+ 'friends' on my regular account and at the time I only had like 200 'likes' on my artist page.  So, I was just trying to push my 'friends' over to my artist page to get the likes and ultimately get their emails too.  I still only have a little over a 1000 likes on my artist page.  But, it has worked for sure.

I kept mine pretty simple.  Just the form and the album cover.  And if i remember correctly i set it somehow so that you land on the form if you haven't 'liked' my page yet. But, you go straight to my wall if you have 'liked' it.

Hi Dean,

Have you found setting up your facebook account like this has gotten more likes and people signing up for your email list?

definitely...Basically, if it solves the 'whats in it for me' problem with asking folks to 'like' your page.  Just create a webform specifically for your FB page and see what kind of signups you get from it.  You'll know after a week or two if its worth it.

Hey Dean, I can't seem to figure out where to add another tab on FB, I'm probably looking right past it but could you give me a quick run down on the process? Thanks man! Oh yeah, I "liked" page and your music is pretty cool Bro!

Its been a while since Ive done this...But its under my 'apps' tab.

Click 'edit info' at the top of your artist page.

Then click 'Apps'

Go down to the bottom of the page and look for somethign like 'add app.'

Like i said i havent done this for a while.  But the app I use is Static FBML.

I dont remember it being very hard to add it.

All i did after that was paste my aweber form info.  ***dont use Javascript.  Its gotta be HTML. If you use Aweber youll see that option after you create the form.

I remember hearing that Facebook was going to crack down on FBML but I havent seen anything.

Hope this works!

That sounds easy enough! After you do that, is that automatically the landing tab on facebook or is there an additional step to make it your landing tab?

In the Edit Page section there is a Manage Permissions tab, there you have an option to make that tab the the landing page.

In the Apps section I didn't see an FBML but did see a Static HTML which I'm sure is the same or ar least will fit this purpose. I haven't installed it yet but I will. I'll post back if I have any problems

My squeeze page is my landing page for those who have never been to my fanpage before.  It is converting at 12.5%.  Not a huge conversion, but better than nothing!

Hey Kat,

I see you recently changed up your squeeze page. You're talking about http://katparsonsmusic.com/ right?

Which one is/was converting at 12.5%. That's too low. I'd like to see how we can improve that. Lets start with what page you are talking about? Have you been measuring multiple types of traffic on different forms?

I was, but there's no real "welcome page" anymore. Nevertheless, I have a workaround (of sorts). I'm not sure if you've seen my post about getting a "free download" button on your fb page, but I *DO* get signups that way. The reason I do is because I'm constantly encouraging subscribers in my followup messages to comment on my fb page, and those comments are seen by their fb friends, so I get a fair amount of "viral" traffic. Visitors see the red "free download" button, and sign up. I've only just recently set up a separate AWeber form so I can track conversions, so I can't tell you yet how much I get that way, but I can't see any reason why someone would NOT do what I'm doing. It's easy, free, and not in any way potentially offensive. And you will get signups. So...why not?

If you want to see what I'm doing, go to http://www.facebook.com/LangerMusic and click on the red "free download" button. You can't miss it. Wink
